A useful fit for

A larger ready-filtered chamber in a shorter, wider glass pitcher for someone who wants the manufacturer's Pure/limescale feature and can accommodate an 8.27-inch width.

The main tradeoff

The Pure Kit page disagrees with itself on whether three or four Pure bags are in the box. The Large has a wide round footprint and recycled-plastic handle; it remains a gravity pitcher with weekly cleaning and branded refill needs.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want the 7-cup filtered chamber rather than the standard 5-cup chamber?

The Large has 7 cups / 1.66 L filtered capacity and 12 cups total, versus 5 filtered cups in the standard body.

Is the manufacturer's Pure granule route the preferred filter choice?

Aarke positions Pure for limescale reduction, unlike Enriched, which adds magnesium and does not reduce limescale.

Will an eight-week-or-120-liter refill cycle fit your routine?

Aarke rates one bag at up to 120 liters / 31.7 U.S. gallons or eight weeks; hard water may shorten life.

More filtered water at once, in a wider glass carafe

The Aarke Purifier Large Pure Kit keeps the same gravity-fed, refillable stainless-steel cartridge concept as the standard model, but changes the capacity and footprint. Aarke lists 12 cups (2.84 L) of total carafe volume and 7 cups (1.66 L) in the filtered chamber. That makes the Large the clearer fit if a five-cup ready-filtered chamber would require too many refills. The product page estimates 3–5 minutes per liter, so the larger lower chamber still takes time to refill; it is not a countertop instant dispenser. The manufacturer’s studio kit image shows the Large body, steel cartridge and three Pure bags. Its “Included in the box” list says four Pure bags, while the product description says three, so do not use the rendering to count the delivered refill bags.

Pure and Enriched are not interchangeable claims

The Pure granules use activated carbon and ion-exchange resin. Aarke positions this route around reducing chlorine, limescale and heavy metals such as copper and lead. Its page lists ranges that vary with inlet water and cites EN 17093:2018. I did not find a separate independent report or third-party certification for this exact pitcher-plus-granule configuration, so those statements should be read as maker-published claims rather than guaranteed household results. If lead is the essential issue, ask for an exact performance record and compare it with a local water test; a maker’s table is not the same thing as a certification to NSF lead-reduction requirements.

Aarke’s Enriched granules are a different refill route: the maker says they add magnesium and raise pH, but do not reduce limescale. This review is for the Pure kit’s primary configuration. The filter cartridge is refillable, but use the correct Aarke granules and load one type at a time; the company says other brands’ refills are incompatible. For the Large body with the pH/mineral feature, see the Large Alkaline Kit.

Measure width as well as height

The Large is about 9.84 inches high, 8.27 inches wide and 5.39 inches across its round base. It is shorter than the standard Purifier, but noticeably wider; the product page explicitly advises measuring the fridge shelf, and says the round base is unlikely to fit a narrow refrigerator-door pocket. The Large handle is recycled and certified Ocean Bound Plastic, not glass, while the carafe is glass and the refillable cartridge is stainless steel. Aarke describes additional BPA-free food-grade thermoplastic and silicone components. This is not an all-metal or entirely plastic-free object, even though the pitcher itself is glass and the filter cartridge is steel.

The lower filtered chamber is 1.66 L, not the entire 2.84-liter carafe. Aarke’s capacity wording can otherwise be easy to misread as all twelve cups being ready after one fill. If you serve water to several people, the larger filter chamber helps; if your main constraint is a narrow shelf or easy one-handed handling, the wider glass pitcher and 2.54-pound empty weight may work against you. The standard model weighs about 2.43 pounds empty and is narrower, but its filtered chamber is only 1.18 L.

Refills and cleaning are a recurring commitment

Each Pure bag is specified for up to 120 liters (31.7 U.S. gallons) or eight weeks, whichever comes first; the manual cautions that local water hardness affects service life. Aarke also estimates up to 510 cups on its product page, which is broadly consistent with about 31.7 gallons if cups are eight ounces. The separate package-count conflict remains: the description refers to three bags, the included-box list to four. Confirm the exact kit contents before relying on a particular refill budget. The base Purifier Large, SKU A1221-PDSL-OS, is a separate listing for the same 7-cup-filtered body; its product render shows a single Pure refill rather than the multi-bag kit presentation. This review covers the Large Pure Kit bundle, while the base listing is retained as a covered package variant with its own exact product image and code.

First use means washing the parts, filling the steel cartridge with granules, soaking the closed cartridge for five minutes and discarding that water, then running and discarding a cold-water rinse fill. The U.S./Canada manual asks owners to clean weekly and recommends boiling the cartridge with granules for three minutes each week, cooling and rinsing it before reuse. The product page and manual allow dishwasher cleaning below 140°F / 60°C. The refill bags should remain sealed in their original foil until use. For a low-maintenance household, the weekly boil is a meaningful tradeoff, not fine print.

Limits matter more than the “Pure” name

Aarke permits only cold water that meets legal drinking-water requirements and expressly says not to treat contaminated water with the pitcher. It says filtered water should be kept cool, out of direct sun and used within 24 hours. During a boil-water advisory, its guide says the boil instruction applies to Aarke-filtered water too; it also directs certain groups, including people with limited immune defenses and baby-food preparation, to boil the water. The support page says its granules do not reduce fluoride or microplastics and that a PFAS reduction cannot be generally defined. This is a taste/mineral household filter, not a disinfection device.

Choose the Large Pure Kit if you want the bigger ready-filtered chamber and the maker’s Pure/limescale route, and if the wider footprint, glass handling, branded refills and weekly care make sense for your kitchen. Choose the Enriched sibling for the maker’s magnesium/pH feature rather than scale reduction. Choose another system when an independently documented contaminant test, microbial protection, narrow fridge-door fit or an automatic filter alert is essential.
