A useful fit for

A 7-cup-filtered glass pitcher for someone who wants Aarke's Enriched magnesium/pH feature in the wider, shorter Large body.

The main tradeoff

Enriched does not reduce limescale; the separate Pure bag is a different refill route. The Large body is 8.27 inches wide, has a recycled-plastic handle and requires a weekly cleaning/boil routine. Lead remains unknown to the finder's exact-test threshold.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Would you choose Enriched granules for the maker-listed magnesium and pH feature?

Aarke describes magnesium addition and increased pH for Enriched and explicitly says it does not reduce limescale.

Does the 12-cup total / 7-cup filtered Large chamber meet your serving need?

The lower chamber holds 7 filtered cups; 12 cups is the total pitcher volume, not ready-filtered capacity.

Is the Large's shorter 9.84-inch height useful if its wider 8.27-inch body fits?

The Large is lower than the 10.8-inch standard body, but wider and round-based; measure the shelf rather than assuming door fit.

The larger Aarke body with Enriched granules

The Purifier Large Alkaline Kit pairs Aarke’s wider glass carafe with its Enriched refill bags. Its listed total volume is 12 cups (2.84 L), with about 7 cups (1.66 L) in the filtered lower chamber at one time. It uses gravity, not a pump or push-button dispensing. Aarke estimates three to five minutes per liter, so the extra chamber volume is useful for a group but does not make the pitcher instant. The official rendering shows the Large pitcher, steel cartridge and three Enriched bags; the actual included-box list also names one Pure bag. That additional Pure bag is separate refill stock, not a mixed filter charge.

Enriched has a distinct purpose and a real limitation

Aarke describes Enriched granules as activated carbon, ion-exchange resin and a mineral addition. Its product page says the refill adds magnesium and raises pH; the listed result is above 8.5 when inlet water is pH 7. The manufacturer also lists chlorine, copper and lead reduction ranges dependent on source water and cites EN 17093:2018. I did not find an independent test report or a third-party certification listing for this exact configuration. Treat those figures as manufacturer statements, not guaranteed output, medical benefits or a promise that alkaline water changes your body. If an exact lead result is central to your choice, request the test report and compare the conditions with your water analysis.

Enriched does not reduce limescale, according to Aarke. That makes the “alkaline” version a poor substitute for the Pure route if your specific goal is the maker’s scale-reduction feature. The package contains one Pure bag, so an owner can load it separately later, but the product assessment and filter-route match here describe the primary Enriched cartridge setting. Aarke says its Purifier systems are compatible with its own granules only. The support page says neither refill type reduces fluoride or microplastics and that it cannot define PFAS reduction generally.

Size is lower but wider than the standard Purifier

The Large stands about 9.84 inches tall and is 8.27 inches wide, with a 5.39-inch round base. It is shorter than the standard 10.8-inch model but wider; Aarke recommends measuring the actual shelf and warns that the round base is unlikely to fit narrow refrigerator-door storage. The body is a glass carafe, the cartridge is refillable stainless steel and the Large handle is recycled Ocean Bound Plastic. The manufacturer also lists BPA-free food-grade thermoplastic and silicone components. If avoiding every plastic part is a hard requirement, this is not a completely plastic-free build.

The 7-cup filtered rating is not the same as the 12-cup headline. It is the filtered lower chamber capacity, while total carafe capacity includes the upper reservoir. Aarke’s product comparison gives 2.84 L total and 1.66 L filtered. The empty weight is about 2.54 pounds; glass and the larger footprint make it less forgiving to move than a small plastic pitcher. The standard Enriched Kit is lighter at about 2.43 pounds and only 6.7 inches wide, but offers a smaller 5-cup filtered chamber.

What the kit actually includes, and how often it needs attention

The product description calls the package three Enriched bags and says they are almost six months of refills; the included-box list itemizes one Pure plus three Enriched bags. The page’s photo depicts three Enriched bags but not the Pure one. Each bag has a stated limit of up to 120 liters (31.7 U.S. gallons) or eight weeks, whichever comes first. The extra Pure bag is not a fourth Enriched refill and should not be counted as a magnesium/pH route. Aarke notes that hard water can shorten granule life. Confirm current package contents with the seller before using a planned refill count.

For first use, the U.S./Canada manual says wash the parts, load the selected granules into the cartridge, soak it for five minutes and discard the soak. Then fill with cold tap water and discard one rinse fill. For ongoing care, replace granules at eight weeks or 120 L, clean the system weekly, and follow the manufacturer’s weekly three-minute boil for the cartridge with granules, followed by a cool-down and rinse. The manual permits dishwasher cleaning below 140°F / 60°C. This washable, reusable shell avoids a disposable cartridge body but demands more hands-on care than snap-in alternatives. Use the lid’s manual date dial; it is not an automatic sensor.

Who should look elsewhere?

The U.S./Canada guide limits use to cold water meeting legal drinking-water quality and says the filter is not for contaminated water. Store filtered water cool and away from direct sunlight and use it within 24 hours. Aarke says boil-water guidance applies to its filtered water too, and tells some groups, including people with limited immune defenses and baby-food preparation, to boil it. The system does not establish bacteria, virus or cyst reduction. Those restrictions rule it out as an emergency or microbiological treatment pitcher.

The Large Enriched Kit may fit a kitchen that wants a bigger glass serving vessel, reusable steel cartridge and the manufacturer’s added-magnesium/pH feature, and that accepts a wide round footprint and weekly cleaning. If you need scale reduction, choose the Large Pure route; if height is the only issue, measure the 9.84-inch lidded height but remember the 8.27-inch width. If exact contaminant removal or low upkeep matters most, compare a different filter with a current, exact-model performance sheet and a care schedule you will maintain.
