Santevia MINA Pitcher review

A 2 L (9-cup listed capacity) BPA/BPS-free Tritan pitcher sold in black or white with a first MINA Fluoride Filter; its current maker-published MINA results include fluoride and lead test data.

The exact current MINA Pitcher page and native record were checked on 2026-10-23. The black and white SKUs share one reviewed configuration; no price or stock guarantee is used. The current included filter is identified as Fluoride by Santevia's current FAQ. Published `mina` test-table results are not treated as certification or a household-water guarantee; do not transfer the fluoride result to the physically compatible Standard replacement. The 2021 two-page family manual is not an exact current revision/SKU crosswalk.

A useful fit for

A 2 L / 9-cup listed-capacity plastic pitcher for someone who wants a current Santevia package with a fluoride-filter route, published MINA lead and fluoride results, and the maker's mineral-media feature. The capacity is the system's listed total, not a promise that one upper-tank fill yields nine ready cups.

The main tradeoff

You have to keep the included Fluoride filter route in place for the stated fluoride test data to match; a compatible Standard replacement is not rated for fluoride by the manufacturer. The Fluoride cartridge also has a slower maker-estimated upper-tank cycle than Standard. Its NSF/ANSI wording describes testing methods, not an NSF product certification or a household-water guarantee.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is a nine-cup listed pitcher size useful, without requiring nine cups already filtered at once?

The exact current listing says 2 L or 9 cups. The upper reservoir takes up space, so a complete upper-tank fill is not the same as nine filtered cups ready to pour.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is an essential fluoride result important enough to retain the included Fluoride cartridge?

The current package is described with the MINA Fluoride Filter and the manufacturer MINA results table reports fluoride reduction. Switching to the compatible Standard cartridge changes the plan; Santevia does not rate that cartridge for fluoride.

Does an 80-gallon/two-month replacement routine fit your household?

Santevia lists 300 L / 80 gallons and two months. If your required minimum is above 80 gallons, this plan is not a match.

A nine-cup listing describes the whole pitcher, not the ready-to-pour batch

Santevia's current MINA Pitcher listing describes a 2 L, nine-cup pitcher in black (9MS-483) or white (9MS-484). Both colors use the same filtration plan; the shade is not a performance choice. The first filter is included, and the manufacturer's current FAQ identifies it as the MINA Fluoride Filter. That matters more than the color: the compatible Standard replacement follows a different claim route. The upper reservoir also occupies room inside the pitcher, so do not read “nine cups” as nine cups already filtered after one upper-tank fill. If you need a large ready reserve with few refills, compare the actual lower-chamber or tank volume of a larger model rather than relying on this total-capacity label.

The exact product page lists assembled dimensions of 8.5 inches long by 5 inches wide by 10 inches high and calls the pitcher BPA/BPS-free Tritan. Those are useful refrigerator-clearance figures, although it does not publish an empty weight. Measure the opening with the lid in place, and leave room to lift the top reservoir out for filling. This is a hand-filled, gravity pour-through pitcher, not an electric dispenser or a system that produces water continuously at the faucet.

Keep the filter variant attached to the claim

The current MINA product page publishes a Mina results table that reports more than 99.9% reduction for chlorine and fluoride, 99.30% for lead, and more than 99.9% for PFOA and PFOS under the stated test conditions. Santevia says its tests were performed by ALS Environmental, an ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited laboratory, to NSF/ANSI methods. The manufacturer's test-method explanation describes testing methods; I did not find evidence that the pitcher itself is NSF-certified. Results depend on source water and test conditions, and they are not a promise about a particular household's water. Use your local water report to decide which result matters.

The important ownership fork comes later. Santevia sells separate MINA Fluoride and MINA Standard replacements; both fit the MINA Pitcher and Glass Water System. The single Fluoride replacement is SKU 9MS-478 and its three-pack is 9MS-479. Standard is 9MS-471 as a single and 9MS-472 as a three-pack. Santevia says Standard is not formulated or rated specifically for fluoride. A support article mentions some fluoride reduction with Standard, but that is not the same as a rated fluoride result; the finder therefore treats the current included Fluoride cartridge as the only plan for an essential fluoride requirement. Do not assume that the current product-page table's fluoride result carries over after changing the cartridge. The separate filter comparison explains the distinction in more detail.

Santevia estimates that a full upper tank takes about five to six minutes to pass through the Fluoride cartridge, compared with two to three minutes for Standard. Those are manufacturer estimates, not a timed test, but they make the decision practical: choose the Fluoride cartridge for its stated fluoride route and accept a slower refill, or choose Standard only if its own documented claims fit your needs. Santevia lists the MINA filter life as two months or 300 L / 80 gallons. Treat both figures as limits to plan around, not a reason to stretch the cartridge beyond the time guidance. The company also provides optional email or text reminders; that is different from a built-in pitcher timer.

Set it up before the first glass

Current Santevia support instructs owners to wash the pitcher, rinse and condition a new filter under running water for about a minute while shaking or tapping it, press it firmly into place, then fill and discard the first three upper-tank fills. Follow the current instructions with a replacement too; that first-use work is easy to forget when you are eager to use a new pitcher. The older two-page MINA family manual is from 2021 and does not identify the current 9MS-483/484 revision, so the current support FAQ is the clearer source for the steps above. Santevia's page describes the mineral feature as adding minerals such as calcium and magnesium; that design claim is not evidence of a health benefit.

This is a choice for already-potable cold tap water, not a way to disinfect questionable water. The reviewed MINA result table does not establish a microbial-reduction result. If bacteria or parasites are your essential concern, use a model with an exact, relevant test record and follow public-health guidance for the source; do not infer safety from the word “alkaline.” If you want a simpler taste-and-odor filter and a smaller batch, compare the five-cup Hydros slim models. If a larger listed capacity or a documented microbial test is more important, read the exact PUR, LifeStraw or other model assessment and check its specific filter variant rather than treating one brand's claims as interchangeable.
