A useful fit for

A smaller fridge or one-person routine that wants the documented Original filter route for chlorine taste and odor, without paying for the Elite filter's longer stated service cycle.

The main tradeoff

At 40 gallons the Original filter is replaced about every two months for an average household, and its performance sheet does not list lead reduction. Choose the Denali Elite configuration for a documented lead claim and 120-gallon filter life, or Tahoe Original for more pitcher capacity.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is a smaller 6-cup pitcher the right scale?

This Denali configuration is listed as a 6-cup pitcher. Check the actual shelf and the amount of ready-to-drink water your routine needs.

Does the Original filter's sheet document lead reduction?

No. Its performance sheet lists several other reductions but not lead. If a lead claim is essential, choose an Elite configuration instead.

Can I use the reusable refillable filter shell with this included filter setup?

This package includes the Original cartridge, not the separate Refillable shell and insert. Choose the Tahoe Refillable system if that reusable-shell format is your requirement.

A small pitcher with the conventional Brita cartridge

The Denali Original configuration is the compact route in this five-item family. Brita lists this white pitcher at six cups, and its product page identifies the pitcher as model OB62. The package includes the Original (also called Standard) cartridge, model OB03. That distinction matters: the body is also sold with the Elite filter, but that version has a different reduction profile and a longer stated capacity. This review is about OB62 with OB03, not every pitcher that looks like a Denali.

At 9.7 inches high, 4.6 inches wide and 9.1 inches long, Denali has a smaller listed footprint than the Tahoe models. Its documented empty weight is 0.9 pounds. Those dimensions make it a useful place to start when refrigerator clearance is tight, but they do not prove that it will fit a particular shelf: measure the opening, door bin and lid clearance, and leave enough room to lift the pitcher out for cleaning. A six-cup label also should not be read as six cups ready to pour immediately after filling the upper reservoir.

What the Original filter is documented to do

Brita describes the Original filter as reducing chlorine taste and odor and lists its stated filter capacity as 40 gallons, or about two months for an average household. Its performance data sheet lists reductions for chlorine, zinc, cadmium, copper and mercury under specified test conditions. It does not list a lead-reduction claim. If lead is a concern in your water, that is a meaningful limitation, not something to resolve by guessing from the Brita name or from a different cartridge's package.

The Original filter's two-month figure is an estimate, not a universal change date. Brita notes that household use and water quality affect timing, and that sediment or hard water may shorten the practical interval. Keep the indicator reset after installing a new filter, but use the gallon limit and the instructions as well; an indicator is not a laboratory test of the water.

Setup and everyday upkeep

Before first use, wash the pitcher, lid and reservoir by hand. Brita's Denali guide says to flush the Standard filter with cold water for 15 seconds, seat it below the reservoir line so it seals, and discard the initial pitcherfuls; the guide describes three full pitchers, or six reservoir fills. Use cold tap water and fill to the marked line. The guide's indicator instructions are specific to Denali: press the reset button for two seconds until the light confirms the reset. A full reservoir fill needs the lid open long enough for its counter to register.

Do not wash the pitcher in a dishwasher or use abrasive cleaners. Brita recommends keeping the system out of direct sunlight and replacing filtered water left sitting for several days. The performance sheet specifies cold water and says the filter is not intended to purify water. Do not use it with microbiologically unsafe or unknown-quality water without adequate disinfection. For an actual water-quality concern, identify the contaminant and follow utility or local-health guidance.

Where this configuration fits—and where it does not

Choose Denali Original when a small body and a conventional 40-gallon filter make sense and you do not require a lead-reduction claim. If you want the same Denali footprint with a documented lead claim and 120-gallon filter capacity, compare Denali with Elite. If you would rather refill a larger 10-cup pitcher without changing to Elite, compare Tahoe Original. If a lead claim is essential in the larger body, read Tahoe Elite.

When shopping, check the exact body and cartridge identifiers—OB62 and OB03—and confirm that the included filter is the one you intend to use. The current Brita listing identifies this package, but retailer cartons, color variants and replacement-filter bundles can differ. This assessment is based on the published specifications and instructions; it is not a taste test or a measurement of household water.
