Hydros pitcher formats: 40-ounce plastic, 40-ounce glass or 64-ounce glass
One filter, three pitcher bodies
Hydros’ current US lineup distinguishes a 40-ounce plastic slim pitcher, a 40-ounce glass slim pitcher and a 64-ounce glass pitcher. Their shared part is the Fast Flo Tech Multi-Filter. Hydros says the same cartridge fits its vessels, clipping into the bottom of the lid or cap. The 40-ounce products hold five US cups; the 64-ounce model holds eight. Those figures describe listed vessel capacity, not an independent test of how much a single tap stream produces.
The practical choice is therefore vessel size and material rather than a new treatment claim. The plastic slim pitcher is the smaller five-cup version and is listed as BPA-free, although the exact resin is not stated. The glass C-441705 is also five cups; its product page calls the body borosilicate glass. The P-681705 glass pitcher holds eight cups and adds a handle in the maker’s gallery. Hydros does not publish exact current exterior dimensions or empty weights for these pages, so a “slim” name or product rendering should not be used as a refrigerator-fit measurement. Confirm shelf clearance with the manufacturer before treating a tight maximum-height requirement as met.
What the shared cartridge can and cannot support
Hydros describes the filter as coconut-shell carbon in a BPA-free casing. Its FAQ reports more than 90% chlorine reduction through 40 gallons and Class I particulate reduction, tested by Torrent Labs against NSF/ANSI 42. The FAQ links a pitcher-family table with 93% average and 89% minimum chlorine reduction and over 99% average and minimum Class I particle reduction under the displayed test values. It does not name any of the three exact pitcher SKUs, so those averages and family-level claims should not be treated as a model-specific guarantee. The company recommends replacing the cartridge every two months or about 40 gallons, whichever comes first, and says to keep use at no more than five gallons daily for best results. These are manufacturer statements about a filter route; the 64-ounce pitcher does not increase its service limit. A larger body may mean fewer refill steps, but not more gallons per cartridge.
The inspected Hydros sources do not document a named lead, fluoride, PFAS or microbial result for this pitcher filter. Do not infer a health or safety claim from chlorine taste-and-odor language or from a standards-related test statement. These pitchers are for cold water from a safe source, not for making unknown or microbiologically unsafe water safe. If a contaminant is your reason for shopping, compare the exact name and test conditions on a full performance record before choosing a vessel.
Startup, cleaning and everyday limits
Hydros directs users to remove the cartridge, wash pitcher pieces with mild soap, flush a new filter under cold water for 15 seconds, snap it into the lid and fill with cold water. Initial black carbon specks or slower flow can occur. The FAQ warns against hot water above 90°F, freezing the filter or vessel, washing the filter, or using the cartridge with anything but water. Pour at about one ounce per second according to the maker. The shared filter does not have a documented electronic change indicator, so a calendar reminder is a sensible way to remember its two-month limit.
There is a care conflict worth resolving before relying on a dishwasher. The exact C-441705 page says that its glass body is dishwasher-safe but the lid is not. Hydros’ general FAQ says slim pitcher and pitcher bodies are not dishwasher-safe. Until the manufacturer clarifies which instruction applies to C-441705, hand-washing the body and lid after removing the filter is the conservative routine. No dishwasher claim is listed on the 64-ounce page, so follow the general hand-wash direction there.
Choose the body that answers your actual need
- 40 oz plastic slim pitcher: pale-blue, gray and white listing variants around a five-cup body; the two gray SKU listings are retained separately because their code crosswalk is not established.
- 40 oz glass slim pitcher: five-cup size with the product-specific dishwasher statement in conflict with the general FAQ.
- 64 oz glass pitcher: eight-cup body with the same filter route; external dimensions and empty weight are not listed on the inspected model page.
Choose Hydros for a fast pour-in filter routine and one replacement-filter family across the brand’s vessels. Choose another route if a specific lead or microbial result, a filter life above 40 gallons, or a measured refrigerator footprint is essential. The model finder uses the Hydros cartridge route and capacity together, but it does not treat missing dimensions or unlisted contaminant results as positives.
